Surgical Tooth Extractions

Surgical Tooth Extractions

Surgical tooth extraction is recommended by Dr. Maurice Vargas DDS only if the patient is getting infected by tooth decay or if the damage extends to the center of the tooth containing nerves and blood vessels and bacteria in the mouth can affect the center of the tooth, leading to infection.
Also if patient immune system is compromised for example, if patients are receiving chemotherapy or are having an organ transplant, even the risk of infection in a particular tooth may be reason enough to pull the tooth.
If the patient is suffering from periodontal gum diseases. An infection of the tissue and bone that surrounds and supports the teeth have caused loosening of the teeth, it may be recommended to the pull the tooth or teeth.

Depending on the situations of the tooth Dr. Maurice Vargas DDS will decide the surgery procedure as there can be different possibilities when a surgical tooth extraction is needed. It depends on :

  • Broken or fragile teeth.
  • Anatomical issues (long or curved roots).
  • Impacted teeth (wisdom teeth).
  • Dense, inelastic bone.
  • Teeth with long or curved roots.
